New Bayit for Shabbat Services

Starting January 14, 2006, Ahavat Olam's Shabbat and holiday morning services have moved to 6184 Ash Street (near Cambie and 45th Avenue). Although it has been sweet davvening in the Mivasairs' home the past couple of years, our congregation has matured and needs a space of its own until the InterSpiritual Centre is ready (be-ezrat ha-Shem).

Shabbat services are from 10:00 until 12:45, followed by a pot-luck kiddush lunch. On some Shabbats, a meditation will precede davvening, at 9:30. (See the Calendar for details.) The new site is fully accessible.

We do not need to keep 100% kosher at our new home as we did at the Mivasairs’. All vegetarian food is welcome. This includes dairy products, fish species with fins and scales, eggs and egg products, etc., as long as they don't contain meat or meat-derived products. (Some dairy products contain gelatins and other meat-based products—these are listed on the label.)

Kabbalat Shabbats and special dinners will continue to be held in the home of Rabbi David and Michal Mivasair at 2644 Manitoba Street, near Cambie and Broadway. Please note that this site is not as wheelchair accessible as we would like. Anyone wishing to come in a wheelchair is advised to phone before Shabbat so that we can provide a temporary ramp up the one step at the rear entrance.
